Spring: Starting Anew…
The sun is out and the snow is melting as long nights exchange for long days. Budding trees and chirping birds are upon us as spring dawns and the world starts anew.
We bask in the glow of fresh sunshine and ponder what lies ahead. As winter retreats, spring beckons to cast shadows where shadows have yet cast. From the darkness of mid-winter contemplation, comes the spring of new beginnings. What aspirations that may have stirred, it’s spring that calls them to life.
We weave life’s fabric through the change of seasons, but it is spring that spells our genesis. With certainty, strength and anticipation, it draws us into a world of opportunity. Flush with color, multitude and variety, it appeals to our senses, heightens our feelings, and broadens our horizons. It is within and without, recognizing no boundaries and creating no barriers. It is spring and it is life.
Are we up to it? Do we accept the newborn challenges? If not now, then when? Fraught with disarray, spring is no cinch. Beginnings aren’t easy and there are no guarantees. Struggle and strife are its harbingers and not all that sprouts lives to blossom. Survival is the name of the game as competing agendas plead their time under the sun.
Endurance and resilience (see Resilience: The Path to a Gifted Life…) are the hallmarks of a successful spring. The former brings the strength to bear; the latter gives the courage to continue. The beauty lies not so much in the serenity, but in the hardship encountered on the path there. In spite of wind, rain and anguish, trial and error become the victors of it, and when we stay the course the prize is ours to gain.
Spring arouses hope and optimism as the bleak and cold yield to awakening and light. The sky seems bluer, the air fresher, and the water clearer. Humankind feels the hug of warmth and at long last hibernation has concluded.
English-American writer Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672) wrote: “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
And so it is, as we leave winter behind and embark upon this spring of 2017. It is time to break out of our shells and embrace it with our hearts. We mustn’t doubt nor hesitate, lest we let it pass us by. The season waits upon no one, but welcomes all who dare take up its command.
It’s time to make the most of it. It’s time to start anew. Spring is here…
